Washington, D.C. Internships

Come experience government from the inside. Gain valuable experience, meet a diverse array of new people, and explore Washington, DC as an intern in our nation's capital. Interns will work with staff on a variety of constituent services, legislative, and professional development tasks in the immersive environment of my Washington, D.C. office. 

Intern responsibilities will include but are not limited to assisting staff with legislative, administrative, constituent relations, and press activities. Interns will: answer phones; sort, distribute, and respond to constituent mail; lead tours of the US Capitol building; attend hearings and briefings; assist with legislative research; and participate in professional development activities. Internships are unpaid, but arrangements may be made to earn academic credit.

Successful candidates will demonstrate that they are organized, detail-oriented, and professional. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. 

My office has full- and part-time internships available during the academic year and summers. Internships are unpaid, but arrangements may be made to earn academic credit.

Eugene Internships

Congressman DeFazio offers two different internships in his district office in Eugene, OR.

The Staff Assistant Intern works with congressional staff to help resolve constituent problems with federal agencies.

The Veterans/Military Intern works with congressional staff to assist veterans and active duty service members receive benefits and services. Students who are veterans or service members are encouraged to apply, but prior or current military service is not required.
