Congressman Peter DeFazio Tours New South Lane Clinic
Congressman Peter DeFazio yesterday toured the new Federally Qualified Health Center in Cottage Grove, the South Lane Clinic, anticipated to open in early 2022.
“Southern Lane County is in desperate need of a new health clinic. To say that this community is underserved is an understatement,” said Rep. DeFazio. “The region ranks in the top two of Oregon’s highest need primary care service areas, according to the Office of Rural Health. The South Lane Clinic will provide healthcare access to over 5,000 patients once its doors open – and I’m proud to have secured $1.5 million in this year’s House-passed federal funding bill to ensure that this area gets this needed health clinic.”
“I have seen first-hand how Lane County’s Community Health Centers improve the health and wellbeing of the communities they serve. I am elated that, thanks to the advocacy and funding from our partners, the people of South Lane will be afforded that same opportunity. The health of one of us affects the health of all of us.” Said Chair of the Lane County Board of Commissioners, Joe Berney.
"We are happy to help support the vision of so many local groups who have worked hard together to create this vital health center to address their community’s needs.” Said Executive Director of the Yarg Foundation Kristin Walrod.
