Congressman DeFazio Tours Southwestern Oregon Community College Umpqua Hall Health and Science Building
Congressman DeFazio (OR-04) yesterday toured the new Umpqua Hall Health and Science Building at Southwestern Oregon Community College.
“I was glad to tour the new health and science building at Southwestern Oregon Community College along with college president Patty Scott,” said Rep. DeFazio. “This project is expected to add nearly 250 jobs to the local economy and create $5 million in private investment in the Coos Bay area. I’m proud to have helped secure grant dollars to help build Umpqua Hall, and I’m honored that the college has named a room after me.”
The building was built in part with a $3 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant that Congressman DeFazio worked to help the college secure. The new building will expand and modernize old lab space and classrooms for the health and science programs at the college. The new Umpqua Hall is also the most energy-efficient education building in the region.
